home theater
Great use of a basement. An old home without space for relaxing, we added this theater area to be a cozy getaway for the client. Their private space includes cabinets with grilles doors to allow for air flow and passage of infrared for their remote controls to work. Duct work is also hidden inside. The chimney brick, though imperfect, is not hidden but celebrated as a canvas for the television. There is no mistaking this is a basement by day, but when the lites go out, it becomes a gateway to another life. Carpet gives a warm soft feel underfoot and soaks up sound reflections. Drywall added to the back wall covers unattractive concrete. And the laundry is right around the corner to keep up on household chores.
